Don't Wait For New Year's...

This time of year is easily the laziest time for the entire population of the country… Post Halloween we wait for Thanksgiving then right into the Christmas festivities and this is notoriously when people let their fitness backslide. The mindset creeps in that “I’ll just wait for New Year’s and then go 100% all in on my goals and be fit for the Spring/Summer”. This is a terrible mindset for any goal and especially for something that requires long term dedication like fitness.

A study from the NY Times found that 80% of people fail their New Year’s resolution by February. Why? Because discipline isn’t a light switch. There are workouts that I HATE doing. I’m tired, sore, sick, unmotivated etc…but those are the workouts that I go 110% all out on. Train hard when you don’t want too, the rest will be easy. If you think that your “resolution” is going to keep you motivated for a long term goal day in and day out for months- you’ve already lost. Start now during the hardest time of the year and start building discipline, you’ll set yourself up for major success.
